Michele Bachmann’s media frenzy has drifted from her campaign and began to focus on a new problem; migraine headaches. There has been concern that Bachmann’s headaches may potentially cause problems with her ability to lead.
A former aid of Bachmann claimed that she was in a hospital within 24 hours after her communications director, Dave Dziok, left her campagin, allegedly due to extreme migraine headaches. The same aid said that she regularly suffered from these headaches, describing them as debilitating.
She was admitted to a hospital in Washington, D.C. on July 30th, but was released the same day.
The truth is, while migrane headaches can be debilitating, this issue has been dramatically blown out of porportion. Over thirty million Americas regularly suffer from migraines. Most of them lead completely fulfilling lives. While it could be a very real issue that theoretically could interfere with her ability to lead, it appears to be more of a political scheme blown out of proportion by her opponents.
It’s easy to see how Bachmann’s political rivals would benefit from this story. If Michele Bachmann becomes perceived as weak or debilitated, her polling and public opinion could drop substantially.
